FANGN’ is the newest addition to Chase & Grace Projects services on offer. FANGN’ includes intensive BMX riding, mentoring, and skill development at the Newland Park Skate and Play Precinct. The project is primarily aimed at engaging young people aged 10–25, while remaining inclusive and welcoming to participants of all ages. The skatepark remains an important place for young people today, offering a safe and vibrant environment where they can be active, form meaningful friendships, and develop essential life skills—physically, emotionally, and socially.
FANGN’ includes the provision of:
2 or more experienced project facilitators
High-quality, Sunday branded BMX bikes for young people to rotate using throughout each workshop
High-quality, helmets with MIPS technology for young people to use
Assorted shoes and new socks to cater for all ages, for participants who may not have appropriate footwear
Skatepark, bike, and safety equipment checks
Mentoring particpants, including but not limited to teaching and fostering:
- Correct skatepark use & etiquette
E.g. safety guidelines, skatepark cleanliness, and respect for infrastructure and the surrounding landscape
- Inclusivity of all skatepark users
E.g. respect for differences in background, location, gender, sexuality, culture, bodies, ability, age, and skill level
- Skill development & advancement
E.g. warm-ups, sharing and friendliness; BMX-specific skills such as pumping, flow, lines, and tricks; skill sharing and positive encouragement of peers
